Standing Up, Speaking Out:

CAP endeavours to become a relevant voice defending Israel and Jewish students and faculty from the virulent attacks of anti-Zionist groups on campuses.  CAP plans to accomplish this through online petitions, statements in the media, and liaising with colleagues and administrations on relevant issues.

CAP Speakers Network

Brings Canadian professors with expertise on the Middle East to engage in speaking events on campuses across the country.  The professors on this list agree to forgo honoraria, and CAP pays relevant expenses associated with their travel.  During the fall semester, the Speakers Network has succeeded in confirming 18 events across Canada, hitting 17 different campuses in 7 provinces.  The goal for the winter semester is to host another 25 events.

CAP Dialogue Initiative:

Taking into consideration the rise in anti-Israelism and antisemitism on Canadian campuses across the country, CAP professors intend to join with students and administration in working towards conflict transformation, dialogue, campus safety and security. The intended program will endeavor to create safe space on campus wherein students are able to dialogue and deliberate with intellectual integrity, without fear of academic repercussions and an eruption of conflict/violence. Approaches will embrace core Canadian values such as academic freedom, safety, mutual respect, civil discourse, and will dispel misinformation that one must dialogue with friends.

Please refer to the attached document for a full proposal of this initiative.

Open Doors Program:

The goal of this initiative is to assist Jewish students on campuses across Canada by identifying faculty willing to support students in one of, if not, more areas: Middle East awareness, navigating administration/knowing rights, alternative resolution mechanisms/dialogue.  The identified faculty would be available to work with individual students, helping them take appropriate next steps and capitalize on the resources available. In some situations they would also be willing to work with organized Jewish community on campus including Hillel/JSA and Israel-on-Campus (IOC). Once we collect names and contact information of willing professors (members of CAP and other) the information will be compiled into a database. The database will be shared with Hillels and the Canadian Federation of Jewish Students (CFJS), and will be made available to students via the CFJS interactive website
